Sicilian Ceramic Town - Visit Santo Stefano di Camastra
Santo Stefano di Camastra is only a 15 minute drive from Finale. It is famous for its production of ceramics. In fact almost every second shop sells the locally produced ceramics of all shapes and forms. These beautiful ceramics can also be found on some benches, bins, and railings about the town.

A landslide in 1682 destroyed the village of Santo Stefano di Mistretta, so the present town was formed after this.
Guiseppe Lanza Barresi, who was known as the Duke of Camastra and Prince of Santo Stefano, planned the reconstruction of the town. The name of the town was thus changed in his honour.
Versailles and Villa Giulia in Palermo inspired the new town with wide streets sided by palm trees, green areas and the diamond shape within the square. Even though the original borders could not contain the increasing population (now approx 2,000) one can still see the original design, with sides 200 mt long.
An hidden and nice (also elegant and not plastic tables/charis) is the restaurant "Manueliano" - photo above.
